6 Super Summer Tips
Summer is a wonderful season, everyone is out and about enjoying the sunshine. It’s also the time when we are showing more skin than usual, so it’s needs to be looking as healthy and glowing as possible. Here are my top summer beauty tips for keeping your skin young, healthy and glowing.
6 Summer Beauty Tips.
1. Follow the essential routine
During summer we are exposed to different conditions from dry air-conditioned homes to walks in the steamy and sweaty weather outside so it’s important to maintain a constant daily beauty routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising ritual twice a day for best results.
2. Exfoliate for clearer, smoother skin.
Our body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don’t get rid of them, those dead skin cells will just sit on your skin making you it look dull, rough and dry. But you don’t need to purchase additional products to exfoliate your body just use an exfoliating mitt and a few pumps of your facial cleanser or make up a home-made sugar scrub using 1 part organic extra virgin coconut oil to 2 parts sugar and mix together. Take a spoonful or two and a rub onto dry skin, then rinse thoroughly. Your skin will feel wonderfully clean and the super soft from the oil.
3. Hydrate your skin
Toners are great for preparing the skin ready for your moisturiser but they also help close the pores and cool the skin down. But did you know that you can refresh your skin at any time throughout the day by using your toner as a spritz. Keep a bottle of toner in your bag and spray on whenever your skin starts to feel dry.
4. Stay Hydrated
Higher temperatures and more time spent outdoors can lead to dehydration of the body and causes your skin to lose its suppleness and glow. The best way to stay hydrated is to have at least two litres of water every day. It helps to maintain moisture balance of the body and skin and helps to flush away toxins. If you don’t like the taste of water, squeeze in some lemon, lime or orange to your water, but stay away from fruit juice and soft drinks.
5. Use Sunscreen
In Australia, we enjoy a climate that sees us spending a lot of time outdoors but it’s also the time when our skin is most at risk of damage by the sun’s rays, so sun protection is essential. Choose a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15 to protect you from incidental sun exposure and higher SPF factor if you are doing any outdoor activities. Re-apply every two hours and for extra protection slip on a long-sleeved cotton shirt, a hat and sunglasses.
6. Eat Right.
Beautiful skin starts with a healthy diet so make sure your diet is packed full of healthy foods to nourish your skin with essential vitamin and minerals it needs for optimal health and beauty. Pack your diet full of a variety of vegetables and fruit to help protect the skin from damage from free radicals caused by smoking, pollution and the sun. Include fish, avocados, nuts and seed in your diet as these contain essential fatty acids which act as a natural moisturiser for your skin keeping it supple.
Set yourself a challenge and do one of these great summer beauty tips each week of Summer. Your skin will reap the benefits.
